Wear the beekeepers protection suit that we provide for adults and children and inspect the hives. Spot the Bee Queen and the Drones, observe the Bee Workers during their work, browse through our Honey and Pollen storerooms, see the eggs insight the cells and learn how important organization is for the welfare of these social insects.

Experiential activities depend on the month of your visit to the hives.

-    Honey harvesting in August

-   New swamps making in March & April

-    Beeswax isolation in September

 -   Raw honey bottling from September to November

  -   Creation of new frames for the hives in winter months etc.

Points of interest

September-November

  • Extraction and bottling of raw honey
  • Extraction of fresh beeswax
  • Maintenance of the bee population in the hives a)pest control (from the bee pests called varroa) b)inspection of the hives to make sure the populations are gradually increasing (inspecting the accumulated pollen on the back legs of the bees that enter the hive, the number of offspring in the hives etc)
  • Frame preparation and fastening of a wax sheet onto them.
  • Repair of any damaged hives and floors that will be used in the apiaries in Spring when the population will increase and new ones will be created.
